This button helps to annotate a Data file. When you click it, it prompts you for a "Label" and "Notes." The Label will be written at the data cursor or selection.

Technically, when you "Add Note", it adds an item to the selection list named "Notes." When the "Notes" list is chosen, and "List show" (at the top) is checked, each item in the list will be highlighted and labeled.

Only the "Label" is written over the data. To see what you wrote as "Notes", right-click an item in the selection list and choose "Properties."

Acquisition Notes is similar, but you set up predefined Labels, and add one of them by clicking its button. Acquisition Notes puts its labels in the selection list named "AcqNotes."

You can build other lists of notes: right-click AddL(ist) to make a new named list, then right-click AddS(el) to add a note to the active list.
